Chemist

Work Location: Perth

Roster: Monday to Friday

We are currently seeking applications for a chemist to participate in the development of renewable technologies for a rapidly expanding green energy company.

As a Chemist with substantial experience in the research, development, evaluation, and testing in a laboratory setting, you will play an integral role in the development of materials selection for a wide range of applications which many include complex polymers, plastics, electrochemical studies, chemical conversion and production. Your work will be carried out in a cutting-edge electrochemistry laboratory and R&D area developed and lead by you.

The successful candidate should be a up and coming leader in the field of chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials engineering.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment
  • Creatively contribute to the team in a positive manner while achieving stretch targets
  • Provide technical input into current and all future designs participating amongst leaders in the technology development team
  • Support the selection, evaluation, and development of materials to support the efficient production of green energy and green materials
  • Lead the establishment of an electrochemistry laboratory for the development and evaluation of materials related to the production of green energy
  • Develop analytical methods for the creation and testing of coatings and or materials used in the field of green energy
  • Interface with engineering group to translate basic research into commercial systems and applications
  • Design, plan and conduct experiments and write technical report findings
  • Ensure IP protection of developed methods and processes through translating scientific research into patents
  • Lead the research and development of robust coatings and materials evaluation in an R&D setting
  • Participate the delivery of Sustainability activities

Qualifications and skills required:

  • PhD or Masters in Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Polymer/Electro Chemistry
  • Experience in electrochemistry, battery research, electrocatalysts, photovoltaics, synthetic gas or green ammonia production an asset
  • Outgoing attitude with a passion for and commitment to delivering excellence
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects as well as participate in an integrated group in time sensitive situations
  • Fluent spoken and written English language skills with additional foreign language skills advantageous
  • Strong computer literacy
