Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Contract Administrator to join the Infrastructure group in our Highways & Bridges team in theGuelphlocation, on a contract basis.

The Contract Administrator is required for the managementof a Metrolinx construction bridge rehabilitation and replacement project along the Guelph Rail Corridor, Guelph ON. The Contract Administrator isfocused on the contracting activities through award, execution, commissioning and closeout andhandover of the project.

As the successful candidate, you will:
  • Administer the awarded Contractor, on behalf of the Owner (Metrolinx)
  • Manage inspection personnel, for the purpose of measuring the Contractors conformance of product to the project requirements.
  • Manage the circulation and timely resolution of contract submittals including shop drawings, plans, procedures, request-for-information (RFIs), in conjunction with the design team (and Owner)
  • Contractual change control relating to cost and time
  • Program monitoring (scope, cost and time) and progress meetings
  • Payment certification and cash flow forecast
  • Claims administration
  • Develop, process and implement contractual documents and change notices in a timelymanner
  • Administrate contracts in accordance with general requirements of contractual terms andconditions
  • Maintain various contract registers and as per project specific instructions
  • Drive the deliverables and inputs as required from the quantity surveyors (if applicable)
  • Management of securities/guarantees
  • Close-out


You bring to the role:
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), active and in good standing with the Province of Ontario (PEO).
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience of being a Contract Administrator involving bridge rehabilitation and/or replacement. Experience on rail bridges and transit rail infrastructure (experience specific to Metrolinx an asset).
  • Experience working on large transportation construction sites (eg. $10million capital budget or greater)
  • Taken and passed the MTO T131 – Advanced Issues Resolution training (post January01, 2020), or taken and passed the MTO T131- Advanced Claims – Dispute Resolution training (priorto December 31, 2019 and attend the T-131A refresher in2020)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Regional standards and codes relating to Civil, Structural, H&S (knowledge of Metrolinx Standards/Design Review Manual an asset)
  • Expertise/self-sufficient WS Word, Excel, for the development and preparation contract reporting forms, templates and reports.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project schedules including logic, critical path, float, etc. (experience in MS Project an asset)
  • Presentation skills including meeting leadership, facilitation, chairing.
  • Management skills; ability to manage inspection team (resourcing, deliverables, etc.)
  • Negotiation and mediation skills
  • Excellent understanding of procurement processes and corporate governance principles
  • Ability to fit into a team environment and personal skills to compliment team workdevelopment
  • Relevant tertiary qualification will be highly regarded
