About the Role:
WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Drill and Blast Engineer to join our client on an 8:6 roster in a site-based position, FIFO from Perth. The role will manage the daily and weekly scheduling activities and see you responsible for drill and blast design and planning activities for the mining operations in order to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of the mine plan. This role will see you work with the latest technologies, using drones for blast capture and RTVis 3D visualisation technology for real-time drill unit performance tracking!

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop drill designs for both production and contour rigs (Vulcan).
  • Create load plans for upcoming patterns (SCT - Smart Charge Truck).
  • Develop tie-ins using electronic dets (Blastplan).
  • Vibration monitoring as required for heritage blasts.
  • Develop job sheets to prepare future mining areas for drill and blast.
  • Provide input to the 2 week planner in regards to the drill and blast schedule.
  • Maintain explosive stocks (ANFO, Emulsion).
  • Develop daily drill plan.


Skills and Experience:
  • Qualifications in mining engineering or related discipline
  • have demonstrated drill and blast experience within an open cut mining environment - preferably iron ore
  • You will have a working knowledge of business and 3D mining software such as Vulcan and Blast Plan
  • Ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Prior drill and blast design experience (wall control, vibration modelling, fly-rock control, overpressure.)
  • Current Australian 'C' Class Driver Licence
  • Must be either an Australian Citizen or a holder of an Australian permanent residency visa to be eligible to apply for this position
