The Role and the Company

The Maintenance Supervisor role is based in Ottawa and reports directly to the Area Operations Manager.    
 
What you'll get to do 
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure plant reliability through execution of an effective maintenance and preventative programs.
  • Plan and direct maintenance operations for physical plants and RMC trucks.
  • Supervise and delegate work to maintenance crew and on-site contractors.
  • Deals with employee relations issues as they relate to employee performance, discipline issues and local union issues.
  • Administer an effective maintenance program for both plant and mobile equipment.
  • Plan down time and organize crew and equipment for scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance; coordinate with the production department to prioritize work.
  • Coordinate resources, manpower, and materials for new equipment installations.
  • Prepare schedules and coordinate activities.
  • Undertake any other relevant tasks.
This position is based out of Ottawa, Ontario Canada.

Essential Experience and Skills 
  • Bachelor's degree or Certified Engineering Technologist with 5 years' experience in concrete industry or the equivalent in relevant work experience in the mining industry.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • At least 4 years of quarry experience and understanding crushing and process equipment
  • Strong leadership, communication and teambuilding skills.
  • Technical knowledge of operations including products, plants and mobile equipment.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, JDE or SAP software.
  • Ability to communicate clear and concise instructions in a professional manner. 
  • Ability to work extended hours and irregular schedules.
 
Work Environment 
  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions. 
  • Physical Requirements:  sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, work extended periods of time in same position, perform duties in all climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, tolerate heights, lift and carry up to 75 lbs., work in confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory and other personal protective equipment
