SCOPE OF THE POSITION: This position requires a leader that is able to facilitate and drive change in a fast paced and 'ever changing' mining environment leveraging their strong interpersonal skills. Key to success in this position is the ability to work within the organization at all levels utilizing a very "hands on" approach to creating value and buy-in as the lead project improvement expert in the business's improvement process initiative.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work closely with site personnel in order to guide the improvement process and ensure sustainable results in the business area (Mine, Mill, Admin)
Develop site level internal capability for business improvement.
Collaborate with the business area manager (Mine, Plant, Admin) and department Superintendents to gather and analyze information to identify gaps and opportunities as well as to help focus the diagnosis of problems and the development of effective solutions.
Work with HR, Supply chain, Finance, H&S and Environmental to implement change management objectives as warranted.
Improve overall operating effectiveness through lean/improvement initiatives using proven programs such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and value stream mapping.
Assists in identifying cost savings and improvement opportunities and building full potential analytical cost-benefit models.
Prepare regular reports to ensure compliance to the organization's business objectives.
Gather and critically evaluate information to support business improvement initiatives.
Leads expert level review of operating practices and assesses the key strengths and major areas for improvement.
Education, Experience required
Bachelor's degree in the field of business administration, finance, or information systems
Certification in a proven lean/improvement program such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and value stream mapping preferred
Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, modelling, verification, and methodology development
Special Skills and/or knowledge
Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
Ability to coach, mentor and lead site teams
Sound understanding of cost accounting principles
Demonstration of high level of organization skills
Good computer skills, Microsoft office (including Visio and Microsoft Project or other project software)
Personal Characteristics

Strong communication and interpersonal skill
