TransitNEXT is a wholly owned subsidiary of SNC-Lavalin. As the sole proponent in the TransitNEXT team, SNC-Lavalin is awarded the design, build, finance and maintenance of the new extension, and will also assume responsibility for the long-term maintenance of the existing Trillium Line.

We are looking for a new Engineering Graduate to work as a part of the Trillium Project Testing & Commissioning team.  Reporting to the T&C Manager, the incumbent will support the activities as outlined below:

How will you contribute to the team?
  • Support T&C Manager/ Lead managing the T&C Schedule as applicable
  • Support T&C Manager/ Lead managing the T&C Risk and ensuring a safe and secure T&C environment as applicable
  • Support T&C Manager/ Lead managing the work of the parties that make up the Commissioning Team as applicable
  • Support T&C Manager/ Lead managing the operations training for staff directly participating in Commissioning activities as applicable
  • Support T&C Manager/ Lead  and TCO managing weekly Commissioning coordination meetings during the Commissioning planning and execution phases to ensure successful T&C completion as applicable
  • Support T&C Manager/ Lead  and TCO overseeing procurement and distribution of test and support equipment required for Commissioning activities as applicable
  • Support T&C Manager/ Lead  and TCO implementing an Emergency Response Management Plan as applicable
  • Support and liaising the T&C Manager/ Lead  and TCO with the City representatives that coordinate City Transit Commission staff, e.g. LRV drivers and operations staff.
  • Support and liaising the T&C Manager/ Lead  and TCO with Representatives of Project Co (TNEXT-Constructors, TNEXT-Design, TNEXT-Maintenance) and where applicable, subcontractors
  • Independent Certifier;
  • Representatives of equipment manufacturers
  • Facilities Testing and Commissioning Manger
    • Managing and witnessing commissioning activities and securing access points to Commissioning sites within the assigned geographical area(s);
    • Implementing and closing out all Work and Occupancy Permits; and
    • Liaising with other members of the Commissioning Team, as required.
  • Support Commissioning Lead Systems Integration Team / Manger and RSTK Representatives
  • Commissioning  Lead and Site Coordinators / Testers support with the following:
  • Preparation of system integration test plans and procedures;
  • Preparing and managing system integration commissioning record-keeping;
  • Provide support in maintaining the system integration Commissioning Schedule;
  • Coordinating with the appropriate engineering and other members of TNEXT teams as required in preparation of test procedures;
  • Completing test procedure forms during tests and Preparing test reports.
  • Issue a list of systems/ commlots to be commissioned;
  • Create Commissioning Logs and Dashboard Template;
  • Create Commissioning Prerequisite & Readiness form;
  • Create Commissioning Deficiency Log and FRACAS System;
  • Oversee and Track the Commissioning;
  • Carrying out Systems Integration Tests;
  • Report Commissioning progress with regards o Commissioning SIT Test Plans and Procedure Templates;
  • May witness selected equipment for start-up, PICO, SAT, SIT;
  • Resolve any major issues during the testing and commissioning phase.
  • Training and Manuals support
    • Delivering Commissioning related training, including Commissioning Safety;
    • Providing and collecting all necessary supporting documentation
      System Completion Coordinators


What will you contribute?
  • You have an Engineering related degree
  • Strong computer skills are a must, specifically Microsoft Pro, Access, Project Scheduling softwares and SQL Database.
  • You have the ability to proactively identify and document any problems/conflicts and effectively manage and resolve them.
  • You have high organizational and tracking skills.
  • Working knowledge of Electrical codes applied in Canada and in Ontario as well as the codes that apply to the transit industry a strong asset.
  • You have the ability to work in a fast-paced project environment and can cope with schedule demands and work load.
  • You are expected to work extended hours based on the work load requirements.
  • You have a valid driving license.
