Maintenance Manager Boyne Smelters Limited
  • Senior Leadership opportunity based in Gladstone

About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager for our Boyne Smelters Operation. Reporting to the General Manager the purpose of this Senior Management role is to lead the site Maintenance Department ensuring that our Asset Health is Maintained and continuously improved. This Leadership role will manage a diverse range of maintenance teams across the Smelters Operation in a controlled and stable manner whilst ensuring the Health and Safety of employees and contractors are maintained.

Given the complexity and importance of this role to the overall business outcomes of Boyne Smelters Limited, it is essential that you possess and are able to demonstrate:
  • Ability to develop maintenance strategy and tactics for a large operation
  • Ensuring that all aspects of the site meets all safety, environmental regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Oversee safety & incident investigations; instigate reports and recommendations for the implementation of corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation including cost reduction initiatives; making sure best practice process is in place across each functional area
  • Understanding the team and their strengths whilst working with them to ensure that safety is first and that the correct work is completed on time & budget
  • Engaging leadership skills are essential. You will be curious, courageous, collaborative, can challenge and positively communicate across your group.
  • Exceed the operational plan through strong processes and collaboration with the relevant team members in the wider group
  • An effective leadership style to support a diverse team of operations personnel to achieve safety, environmental, and cost objectives
  • As a leader and as part of the senior leadership team onsite, show strong peer teamwork for the best outcome for the site

With this in mind, to succeed in this role, you will have:
  • A strong safety focus, a commitment to your own safety and to those around you
  • A competent and visible leadership style of guiding, mentoring, developing and empowering team members resulting in positive employee engagement
  • Significant leadership experience within either a mining, plant or maintenance senior leadership role or similar challenging operational role;
  • The ability to build, influence and maintain key relationships with a diverse range of peers, wider team members and stakeholders.
  • The capability to critically analyse data and make effective strategic and operational decisions based on information provided and drive issues to resolution
  • A proven record in leading operational teams with experience in continuous improvement and change management activities
  • An effective leadership style to support a diverse team of operations personnel to achieve safety, environmental, and cost objectives
  • Clear and engaging interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives/projects
  • Experience using business improvement methodologies such as: KAIZEN, Lean Six Sigma and Change Management would be beneficial
