Control Systems Engineer
Work Location: Port Hedland Operations
Roster: 4D/3R for first month and then reverting to 8D/6R roster | FIFO ex Perth or Residential
We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic control systems engineer to join our Port Hedland Operations within Rolling Stock Maintenance. Reporting to the Process Control Superintendent you will provide support for the operation, maintenance and assist with troubleshooting within Rail Rolling Stock Maintenance focusing on the Ore Car Workshop.

Control Systems Engineer

We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic control systems engineer to join our Port Hedland Operations within Rolling Stock Maintenance. Reporting to the Process Control Superintendent you will provide support for the operation, maintenance and assist with troubleshooting within Rail Rolling Stock Maintenance focusing on the Ore Car Workshop.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Assist with fault finding and breakdowns within including Ore Car Workshop, Locomotive Workshop and Locomotive Provisioning Plant
- Optimise the automatic process at the Rail Ore Car Workshop to reduce delays, increase efficiency and reliability
- Provide input for all control systems projects and improvements at the RSM workshops
- Being a safety leader, actively engaging with personnel to drive a Zero Harm culture
- Audit and maintain all the control system assets such as PLC, SCADA/HMI, remote IO, VSD/Servo drives, communication gateway and software version etc
- Establish the control system infrastructure at the Rail RSM plants, such as Engineering Workstations, Program Change Management, SQL Database and Historian etc
- Develop Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) model for the Ore Car Workshop to determine equipment availability and identify process bottleneck
Qualifications and skills required:
- Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronic/Manufacturing/Computer Engineering Degree
- 2+ years' experience in control systems
- Experience with PLC and SCADA programming. Experience with Siemens PLC Step 7, WinCC and TIA Portal will be highly regarded
- Experience with Industrial communication protocol (Profibus, Profinet, Modbus)
- Experience with Sinumerik CNC programming (Desirable)
- Experience with VSD and Servo motors (Desirable)
- Experience with fault finding and continuous improvement
