About this role

What will you be responsible for?

The Analytical Laboratory Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the Analytical Chemistry Lab section of Newmont Metallurgical Services (NMS), to ensure high efficiency and accurate chemical characterization of samples, in support of Newmont's Process Development team and global operations. Provides supervision and mentorship to Chemists and Technicians at the Malozemoff Technical Facility.

SAFETY AND HEALTH

BUSINESS RESULTS
  • We maintain expert-level technical knowledge of all analytical tasks/tests (IC, ICP/ICPMS, AA, sulfur and carbon analysis, FA), including data interpretation, troubleshooting and QA/QC.
  • We stay abreast of latest analytical chemistry/technological developments.
  • We prioritize, planning, scheduling, and execution of analytical chemistry related projects, providing quality technical reports delivered on-time and against budget.
  • We lead method development opportunities related to existing and new technologies associated with analytical analyses.
  • We collect and analyze data, write reports and other related documentation for different test programs.
  • Provide support in the field of analytical chemistry to other teams within Newmont Metallurgical Services (NMS) and Global Metallurgy, Exploration, Projects and Operations.
  • We provide technical support for contractors as required to perform maintenance and upgrades to analytical laboratory equipment.
  • We lead replacement procurement process, including generation of sustaining capital estimates for all analytical lab equipment.
  • We supervise Chemists and Technicians and ensure their continuous development.


RELATIONSHIPS
  • The Analytical Lab Manager will be part of the Newmont Metallurgical Services team.
  • We develop lines of communication with external departments and shared services.
  • We maintain communication with third parties such as other laboratories, companies, technology providers, universities to ensure standard methodologies are followed and innovative ideas are considered and implemented in support of test programs.

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you
  • Advanced Degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • Experience should include 10 years laboratory experience in the analysis of copper and gold ores (with managerial experience) and development of new analytical methods and implementation of analytical QA/QC programs.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to communicate sophisticated issues clearly and efficiently.

  • The position is located at the Englewood MTF office.
  • Position may be required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites.


The salary range offered for this role is $ 98,400 - 129,150 . The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
