Reporting to the Area Manager, we are looking for a qualified Systems Superintendent who will be responsible for managing the following critical activities for a large complex P3 transit construction project, incorporating all Installation, test, and commissioning of sophisticated transit subsystems and overall transit system, including:
  • Signaling
  • Traction Power
  • Rail communications
  • Tunnels fit out
  • Systems Integration
  • Vehicle integration


How will you contribute to the team?
  • Delivery of the Systems elements of the Project in accordance with safety, time, quality and commercial requirements.
  • Supervise, mentor, coach and train project personnel and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring that the construction work is carried out to the Companies Procedures and Quality Assurance Procedures.
  • Input to the design teams for buildability, sequencing and co-ordination including review of design outputs prior to submission to the client to ensure the design is compliant to national standards and the Contract requirements
  • Support the Engineering Teams with well thought through buildable solutions.
  • On site problem solving and resource management
  • Responsible for Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental for their section of the works including effective leadership in all Health and Safety matters.
  • Raising the technical standards and commercial awareness of the Project staff.
  • To set an example to other members of staff in the high level of professionalism and performance expected.
  • To check the work of other Construction Staff if required.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with members of the Project team, suppliers, third party stakeholders and the public.
  • Provide weekly scheduling reports
  • Work with project staff to develop, monitor the project schedule including identifying critical path dependent elements and recovery methods.
  • Understand and enforce prime contract and subcontract responsibilities.
  • Resolve project disputes.
  • Monitor the progress and schedule of major subcontract agreements
  • Estimate and process Change Orders, including negotiating and assessing cost and schedule impact.
  • Assist with the management of Testing and Commissioning of all system-wide elements
  • Manage the Integrated System Acceptance Testing and Test Running
  • Coordinate activities and obligations with the Maintenance and Rehabilitation Contractor
  • Be an ambassador of the company both internally and externally.
  • Ensure compliance with the Project’s union obligations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required


What will you contribute?
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience in Transit (or related) Systems delivery.
  • The proven ability to successfully manage rail systems component of large and complex construction projects 
  • Rail and Transit project experience.
  • The proven ability to effectively manage project staff.
  • Thorough and proven knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods), industry practices, scheduling and safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to resolve project disputes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Bilingual an asset (French and English)
