Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Underground Operations Superintendent at our Cortez operations. The Underground Operations Superintendent will champion divisional and department safety; develop and implement organizational assignments and plan for succession; develop, implement, and support operational work processes that support the business objectives and Life of Mine (LOM) strategy of the underground division.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in mine planning, operational execution, maintenance coordination and work audit
  • Participate in the development and approval of operational budget and monitor variances
  • Develop operations improvement strategy and ensure the attitude of continuous improvement is driven within the organization
  • Work with Technical and Maintenance counterparts to support Barrick operational standards and ensure implementation
  • develop and implement organizational assignments and plan for succession
  • develop, implement, and support operational work processes that support the business objectives and Life of Mine (LOM) strategy of the underground division
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mine Engineering or Ten (10) years underground experience preferred
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans and offer sound technical expertise with regards to mine design and ground control issue required
  • Strong working knowledge of underground mining equipment, support equipment, and methods, procedures, and legislative requirements preferred
  • Proven safe work record, sound understanding of safety and environment requirements associated with underground mining required
  • Professional communication skills with various levels of employees both verbally and in writing required
  • Excellent leadership skills and knowledge of influencing others required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. Three of these assets are Tier One gold mines: Barrick's Cortez; the combination of Barrick's Goldstrike and Newmont Goldcorp's Carlin; and the combination of Barrick's Turquoise Ridge and Newmont Goldcorp's Twin Creeks.
