In line with Barminco's forecasted growth, we are seeking applications from experienced Senior Consulting Engineers to join our Technical Services team reporting to the Manager - Technical Services.

About the role

Barminco is seeking a London based Technical Services Superintendent with demonstrated technical engineering to support its African and growing North American operations. This is a collaborative and supportive role requiring the use of technical mining best practice to deliver value for our new and existing customers. This role will be site based, allowing site rotations to happen when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Act in the best interests of Barminco, by working within legislation that underpins the Company's operations, as well as ensuring that decisions are based on the achievement of Barminco's objectives
• Ensure conduct which is consistent with Barminco's values, policies, systems, procedures and statutory requirements
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to, Barminco's clients and client representatives, employees, management and supplier contacts
• Assist with the development of systems, processes and practices for the newly created Technical Services division
• Advise on underground mine design, including drill and blast, sequence and scheduling and operational optimisations
• Support technical reviews, cost forecasting, resource allocation, life of mine/monthly/weekly progress tracking and reporting
• Support and advise the tendering team, review of tender schedules and designs
• Identify mine planning risks and opportunities across the business
• Participate and contribute to safe practice and environmental awareness
• Ensure all work is at a standard that is fit for purpose and meets the end users' requirements
• Mentor and train engineering graduates to become an asset within the business
• Identify productivity and cost reduction opportunities

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mining engineering
• Underground Supervisors Certificate of Competency or First Class Mine Managers (FCMM) Certificate of Competency will be highly regarded
• Experience working in Africa and/or North America
• 2 Years completion of underground time
• 5 years' experience in Mine Design, Scheduling and Drill and Blast
• Technical report writing skills
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Deswik software experience essential
