Description

Under direct supervision safely performs duties related to the receiving, processing, and transporting of molybdenum materials.

  • Responsible for transporting moly materials, which includes receiving materials from outside sources and other companies, unloading materials to proper areas, weighing materials, and feeding into system via hoppers over conveyor systems
  • Perform routine scrubber cleaning, lime scrubber cleaning on roasters, and descaling using a chipping gun
  • May operates mobile equipment such as skid-steer loaders, front-end loaders, dump trucks, and forklifts
  • May assist with the following:
    • Roaster operation which includes cleaning drop holes, arms, take-offs, and building floors
    • Leach process which includes cleaning, sampling, and changing filters
    • Duties related to annual overhaul of roaster which may include brickwork and replacing drive mechanism
    • Packaging of oxide and sulfide moly into drums, cans, bags, or briquettes
    • Clean-up of floatation area and changing filter cloths
  • Assist with, and perform utility area tasks throughout the plant to include the cleaning of roaster heaths, cleaning scrubbers, and performing area trash and scrap metal runs
  • Assist with and perform minor repairs in all areas of moly processing plant which may include changing belts and replacing valves
  • Perform area housekeeping
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) months of experience in an industrial environment
  • Required to attend HAZMAT training and may be required to attend hydrogen sulfide gas training


Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED


Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms and work in confined spaces
  • Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day
  • Will be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws
