ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Over the next five years, Agnico Eagle will hire over 600 people across our Nunavut mining operations to help us bring two new sites into production. Meliadine is now under construction and is expected to begin operating in late 2019. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. The site will feature a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex. We expect to operate Meliadine for at least 14 years and we will need to hire over 900 people to help us mine this rich new deposit.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Water Management Supervisor, the Fixed Equipment Operator is part of the Energy & Infrastructure Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Maintain and operate the filtering and chemical treatment processes;
  • Inspect, service and repair components of the water treatment plant including water intakes, pipes, water storage vessels, chemical treatment equipment controls, circulation pumps and valves;
  • Ensure an adequate supply of potable water to the camp infrastructure;
  • Prepare work orders for servicing and repairs;
  • Arrange for major repairs;
  • Inspect the treatment plant systems on a daily basis to ensure effective operations;
  • Monitor and maintain all water and sewage treatment plant equipment;
  • Make sure that all site lift stations and water supply systems are well maintained;
  • Collects water sample for chemical analysis;
  • Ensure the treatment plants are operating efficiently and up to the regulatory standards.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Certificate in Potable Water Distribution and Wastewater Operation or equivalent;
  • 2- 5 years of experience in the operation of a water treatment plant, or equivalent experience;
  • Mining experience is an asset;
  • Possess the physical requirements to perform the job;
  • Possess a good work ethic, a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in team;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Be vaccinated against hepatitis A and B is required (for Health & Safety reasons);
  • Possess an excellent ability to manage emergency situations and working under pressure;
  • Possess the following skills: Punctuality, Flexibility, Honesty, Autonomy, takes initiative, and is organized;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
