Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

Position Reports To: Senior Geologist

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the position is responsible for participating in activities related to the examination of geological data and processes, and to ensure operating guidelines are followed. Daily, the Junior geologist is to work with a senior geologist to complete a variety of assignments as required in order to keep the mine operating in an efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Geologist in assuring all aspects of open pit geology program achieves its goals
• Assist with RC Drill sample collection, working in dusty and noisy environment, proper sampling techniques, repetitive lifting, proper sample labeling,
• Assist with pit mapping, blast hole sampling, in pit environmental sampling
• Rock Chip Logging, data entry, safety audits
• Monitor and maintain sampling supplies inventory
• Daily contractor communication, planning of drill program areas
• Daily communication with engineering and survey groups.
• Assist in all aspects of production as required
• QAQC protocols.
• Daily, Weekly, Monthly reporting
• Budget compliance
• Assist in other key areas of the mine as required

Qualifications

• 4 Year University geology program. Graduated Honours degree or equivalent
• Registered or able to register in a GIT program in Canada
• Previous field experience especially in mining is an asset
• Valid Driver’s license
• Strong interdepartmental communication skills
• Able to change and re-prioritize tasks as new information is gathered
• Strong ability to self-learn
• Able to work independently or within groups
• Strong computer skills
