Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base that was acquired by Kinross in January 2016. The mine is located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. The Bald Mountain Vantage Complex Project has commenced production, and the first gold bar was poured in June 2019.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Kinross Nevada Human Resources Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for providing leadership to the Site Human Resources Department while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values. With the support of the Human Resources Manager, provide oversight for human resource activities including, but not limited to, benefit administration, recruiting, compensation and employee relations.

Currently looking for 2 HR Superintendents (One for Round Mountain and one for Bald Mountain)

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of various employee relations programs, i.e.: Employee orientation, benefits counseling, employee policies and procedures, recruitment, EEO, performance and disciplinary action, and other programs as needed.
  • Assist all levels of leadership in handling employee relations and recruiting challenges.
  • Work closely with HR Manager and Legal to ensure all issues related to employment law are handled fairly and in compliance with local and federal law.
  • Act as a coach/counselor or mediator in resolving inter and intra-departmental conflicts and issues.
  • Assist in providing leadership, guidance, and direction to all employees reporting to this position to ensure professionalism, to achieve functional continuity, and to maximize the quality of service.
  • Oversee the administration of the Company relocation program, including employee immigration processes.
  • Oversee the performance management process and ensure managers and employees participate at expected levels.
  • Work with departments and management to ensure necessary training needs are met (supervisor training, reasonable suspicion, respectful workplace, diversity & inclusion, etc).
  • Oversight of the recruitment process to ensure fair and consistent hiring practices are used.
  • Provide input to the design of HR programs and initiatives and ensure they are successfully implemented and understood.
  • Performs other related functions as assigned.


Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in business or Human Resources or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to create consensus in conflict situations.
  • Ability to change behavior in training and coaching of supervisory staff.
  • 5-8 years in the Human Resources Field.
  • 3-5 years of previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
  • Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
  • Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
  • Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Requires valid driver's license.
