Position Description:

The successful candidate will be involved in the execution of all aspects of large capital projects, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, project motivation, project approval, design, approval, construction, and commissioning. They will also supervise and mentor other project engineers who are responsible for their own individual projects. They shall ensure all programs, personal actions and approaches support Nevada Gold Mines goals for safety and sustainability. Act as a safety champion and constantly apply the principals and spirit of Courageous Safety Leadership and Courage to Care.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise other project engineers with varying experience
• Managing all aspects of a project from scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility to execution, including construction and commissioning
• Provide design input to engineering consultants and direct reports
• Coordinate efforts internally within Nevada Gold Mines during planning, design, construction, and commissioning
• Complete in-house design for improvements of the appropriate size and complexity
• Initiate regular communication with operations, environmental, safety, project sponsor and other key stakeholders
• Assist in procurement and contract of equipment, supplies and services
• Proactively manage projects to achieve quality, schedule, budget and safety
• Utilize project life-cycle tools to track and record project performance
• Inform management of schedule, costs, quality control, document control of any issues which may arise during the project life cycle.
• Lead field engagements with business partners and NGM employees
• Assist direct reports with reviews and personal development
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Four to eight years of project management experience
• One to two years of contractor management experience
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering
• Engineering in Training (EIT) certificate preferred
• Project Management knowledge is preferred
• Experience performing project evaluations
• Strong knowledge of MSHA regulations
• Knowledge in mine operations and construction is preferred
• Experience with managing contractor and contract management is preferred
• Competence in MS Office is required
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred
• Proficiency in MS project or other scheduling software is preferred
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required
• Ability to work in a team is required
• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job is required

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018.
