Job Title: Water Treatment & BCR Operations Technician

Location: North East British Columbia

Schedule / Terms of Employment: This is a full time (40 hours/week), permanent position

Primary Purpose

Reporting directly to the Water Treatment & BCR Operations Manager the Water Treatment & BCR Technician will be responsible for ensuring Conuma's high environmental management standards are upheld, continually developed, and accurately reported internally within the company, and to regulators and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and interpret permit and regulatory requirements for on-site water treatment systems.
  • Interpret results of chemical, physical, and biological tests and document results.
  • Trace chemical, physical, and biological pathways of environmental pollutants.
  • Review and process applications for environmental permits or certification.
  • Participate in and lead field investigations and inspections.
  • Participate in water treatment operations and research development programs.
  • Ensure BCR operations, performance, and reporting requirements conform to operating standards and procedures, and assist in control process adjustments in response to changing conditions.
  • Propose actions for corrections necessary to comply with federal and provincial regulations.
  • Preparation of documents, such as Management Plans, Procedures, Guidelines and Schedules, specific to water treatment.
  • Prepare reports for supervisors and regulatory submissions.
  • Develop and improve the Environmental Management System ensuring compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Undertake GIS work.
  • Supervise various consultants and contractors, including quotes and requisitions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science. Chemical or Environmental Engineering (preferred).
  • 2-5 years environmental experience in Resources or Mining (preferably coal).
  • Experience analyzing environmental sample data and reporting results to regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
