Senior Mining Engineer

An international operator focused on operating across multiple operations in multiple countries is currently looking for a Senior Mining Engineer will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the engineering system for a large scale development of this surface project. The Senior Mining Engineer will be a group level role with support to optimal technical aspects and innovation is provided to operations, thus enabling achievement of long- and short-term business objectives.

This role follows a refresh of a few aspects of the mine which allows this person to come in and really take hold of the role. This Senior Mining Engineer opportunity will be on a short roster to HQ from the city but will require international travel 1-2 times per quarter.

Whilst working in a collaborative, diverse team, you will...

• Lead the program to further reduce any pit risks at our assets and studies
• Work with asset and studies teams to identify risks and actively engineer out hazards
• Ensure the right specialist technical capabilities are developed
• Work with Group Technical to enhance professional development programs
• Deliver efficient short to long term mine/plant production planning services
• Expand the productivity and bench-marking program across the group and lever to accelerate leading practice replication outcomes
• Improve technical systems and processes within the country, including data quality and utilisation
• Work across asset and functional team boundaries to deliver technical optimisation opportunities
• Work with your team to ensure prioritisation and delivery of highest value/risk business opportunities
• Support the technical work program for the surface projects
• Support the regional team to deliver the technical program for the surface project, including mine design and production readiness
• Work with assets/functions to utilise Strategic Production Planning to increase long term value

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering with extensive technical experience in open pit mining;
• Experience in Mine Operations and/or Projects, Mine Technical Services and/or Studies
• Competency in Risk Management and Risk Assessment;
• Demonstrated ability to drive, implement and manage continuous improvement processes;
• Demonstrated ability to conduct strategic options analysis of projects
• Demonstrated communication skills, including an ability to build relationships with both internal stakeholders and external consultancies
