Have you previously worked as a Project Director on large scale, 1billion+ mining projects?

CSG Talent are partnered with a global mid-tier gold producer who are looking for a Project Director for a mine site in Spain.
Reporting to the SVP Projects this role will have overall responsibility for the planning and execution of a partially constructed copper-gold project. They will need to have strong leadership skills and experience of working in a highly unionised environment.
As Project Director your duties will include:
- Overseeing the planning and execution of the project and leading project managers through the process of implementation to completion of projects in a safe manner, within budget, on schedule and in accordance with the appropriate standards, specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinating with in-country personnel to ensure projects are permitted and licensed as required to meet development schedules.
- Leading and influencing personnel at multiple levels within the organisation to improve operational processes that ensure a safe work environment, maximise profitability, drive quality improvements, reduce operation costs and provide sustainable innovative solutions.
- Actively promoting high standards for safety across the project.
- Advising executive management of project status and any significant trends and changes in the investment.
- Liaising with the senior operational team during the design, construction, and commissioning phases of the project to ensure that the team is kept abreast of the latest developments and is able to be involved in commissioning to ensure a timely handover.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, rules, laws and government regulations within project scope. Based on approved budget for the projects, authorising commitments, and expenditures within authority levels, and controlling costs within budget limits. Ensuring accurate and timely reporting standards are maintained throughout the project.
- Reviewing, maintaining and analysing operational trends to identify cost savings
Essential Experience
- Qualified in mining, civil engineering, project management or a similar applicable discipline.
- Experience as a Project Director having built projects up.
- Extensive leadership experience in a highly unionised environment.
- Experience on large scale, 1billion+ mining projects
