ABOUT THIS ROLE:

  • To implement the strategy for planning and controlling all Newmont Ghana's SKU (Stock Keeping of over 20,000Units).
  • To maintain data standardisation and catalogue descriptive information to optimise inventory assets through the development and application of innovative methods and techniques. This is to be done while maintaining an overall focus to reduce risk, improve customer service levels and improve forecasting accuracy and inventory availability.
  • To verify the availability of stock at acceptable cost to prevent stoppage of work for mining and processing operations and other high-risk tasks that require the business to hold stock.


IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

Inventory Planning and Control
  • Manage the day-to-day replenishment activities.
  • Tie-in material requirement planning (MRP) links between inventory levels and operational demand through interpretation of historical usages (from OAS) and forecasting anticipated demand.
  • Maintain inventory descriptions, classifications and data standards in accordance with established Newmont Standards.
  • Manage inventory replenishment into company's distribution centres and warehouses.
  • Drive the obsolescence process.
  • Develop write inventory reports.
  • Research past trends and stay informed of current trends that may influence inventory demand.
  • Reduce inventory holding and maintain agreed service level.
  • Develop and implement internal self-assessment audit techniques based on a control and compliance model for internal and external auditors.
  • Oversee cycle counts and process variance as per laid down process.
  • To verify availability of key commodities such as Haul Truck Tires, GETs, Grinding Media, Cyanide, Lime, all critical spares for the process plant.

Management Reporting
  • Liaise with end-users and maintenance planners to establish inventory and spares for projects and operational requirements.
  • Engage end users during planning and forecasting during review and analysis of inventory.
  • Report to upper management regularly and provide recommendations for better inventory control.

Relationship Management
  • Improve customer services level and facilitate transparent communications between sites and planning groups to confirm the alignment and understanding of management performance measurements, requirements and output.
  • Engage suppliers and expeditors to deliver critical spares needed urgently at the site and bulk commodities.
  • Collaborate with end users to resolve all operational issues in a timely manner.
  • Engage with other regions on sharing best practice and supporting global projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders in mining, process and support services in order to deliver best outcome of value to their budget.
  • To proactively interact with suppliers and external bodies in order to verify continuity of supply to all Newmont Africa operations.

Asset Disposal
  • Proactively implement and execute inventory obsolescence and disposal process to verify obsolescence provision are actively utilised.
  • Initiate and carry through supply chain recommended disposals in conjunction with warehouse.
  • To interface with Technical Services in order to drive the asset management strategy.


Vendor Held Stock
  • Oversee Inventory service level compliance for vendor held warehouses to verify availability of spares to support the operations.


Cost Control and Collaborative Planning
  • Determine periodic asset or inventory valuations.
  • Collaborate with End users, purchasing, asset management and warehouse team to address cost pressures relating to inventory holding.
  • Engage in collaborative planning with endures, procurement, freight and logistics and accounts payable.
  • Forecast critical and non-critical materials requirements against Mine and Operational production plans and communicates and incorporate these needs into a single inventory materials plan and storage capital investment plan.


YOUR TRAINING, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE CHECKLIST:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related field equivalent experience.


Additional Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of ERP / SAP or equivalent enterprise packages.
  • Knowledge of Oniqua Analytic Solution (OAS).
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Planning.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Systems, Applications and Processes (SAP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP) systems knowledge.
  • Lifecycle procurement and contract management.
  • Supplier Risk Management process.
  • Knowledge of P2P transactional processes.
  • Knowledge of customs and regulations.
  • Warehouse Management.

Experience:
  • Between 5 to 7 years' experience in Inventory Management or related.
  • Mining experience preferred.
