Job Description:

The person in this position will work in our Minneapolis office as part of our Corporate Accounting group. This individual plays a primary role in our payroll function for our United States and Canadian operations. An extensive knowledge of payroll and related tax regulations, a desire to provide excellent client service, and accuracy in work output will all be crucial for success in this position.

Specific duties will include
  • Processing a bi-weekly payroll using ADP Workforce Now for 900+ employees located in the United States
  • Processing a bi-weekly payroll using ADP Canada for 30+ employees located in Canada
  • Working with ADP Tax Filing Services to monitor tax filings completed, submitting adjustments and amendments, and researching and setting up new tax jurisdictions
  • Coordinating the communication of payroll related information to third parties such as benefit and service providers
  • Communicating with the Human Resources subunit regarding benefits and personnel-related items
  • Preparing journal entry transactions to record impact of payroll processing on the general ledger
  • Participating in the payroll reconciliation process and calculation of the paid time off liabilities
  • Keeping employee master records updated in accounting system
  • Processing and maintaining various taxable and non-taxable reimbursements
  • Assisting with timesheet review and approvals
  • Developing and maintaining process and procedure documentation
  • Completing a variety of other, related tasks as requested


Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Five years of experience directly related to the job responsibilities described above
  • Experience with ADP and ADP Tax Filing Services or similar payroll service provider
  • Extensive knowledge of United States payroll rules and regulations
  • Willingness and ability to work an occasional weekend day to accommodate payroll process and bank holiday schedules
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with team members
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
  • A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and experience with advanced functions of Excel, such as pivot tables and vlookups
  • Confidentiality, honesty, and integrity
  • Superior task management skills, including scheduling, prioritizing, and following-up
  • Customer service orientation
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications
  • Two-year degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Experience and knowledge of Canadian payroll rules and regulations
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
  • Experience with Deltek Vision
  • Experience with Workday
  • Work experience in a professional services organization
