DESCRIPTION:

The Mining Engineer, Planning is part of the Mine Engineering team. The Mining Engineer, Planning is responsible for designing and organizing the production schedule for all designs for operation of a sector of the mine up to a stope, in close collaboration with the different on-site and off-site stakeholders.

The Mining Engineer, Planning is part of the Medium-term Planning team, whose role is to detail and optimize all developments (i.e. access to the ore and the ore drifts) and design of the stopes. The incumbent of this position ensures that the production objectives are achieved and that the profitability of the designs is maximized. The incumbent of this position will also support the execution of the plan and will ensure that all the engineering work is carried out in total safety, in compliance with all the mining regulations, economically and aligned with the long-term plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Conduct detailed engineering design operations for operation of the stopes, including the development plans, the zone books and the stope books.
  • Plan the diamond drilling, cementation and construction activities to support mining plans.
  • Produce the quarterly production plans and present them to management.
  • Perform evaluations of the operating scenarios, including the financial notions, execution time and operational risks.
  • Report the progress and the gains in relation to the stope design process.
  • Provide the data required in the production schedule for operation of a sector or stope.
  • Complete retro-analyses of mining of a stope.
  • Conduct underground visits to validate the items in the zone book or stope book.
  • Work closely with Long-term Planning, the production team, the other members of the Technical Services Department, and Operations.
  • Respect, know and promote company regulations and policies, particularly with regard to health and safety.
  • All tasks related to his/her duties.



REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years' relevant experience
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
  • Mining modules 1 to 5 and 7
  • Valid general explosives permit


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Adaptability and attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral);
  • Organizational skills;
  • Ability to analyze, be creative and solve problems
  • Ability to work at a remote site and in a multicultural environment.
  • Solid computer skills:
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
    • CAD Scheduling software Proficiency in Deswik software would be considered an asset.
  • Bilingual (French and English)


SCHEDULE
  • Schedule :8days of work followed by6days off, 4days of work followed by3 days off, 4days of work followed by3days off
