The Logistics Manager - Southwest Aggregates role is based in Irving, TX and reports directly to the Sr. Area Supply Chain Manager.
The Logistics Manager will direct and manage the transportation of aggregates to external and internal customers for further distribution within the Southwest Area. This position will work closely with sales staff, production managers, railroad carriers, and terminal managers to safely load, transport, unload, store/inventory and distribute aggregate products.

The Logistics Manager - Southwest Aggregates role is based in Irving, TX and reports directly to the Sr. Area Supply Chain Manager.
The Logistics Manager will direct and manage the transportation of aggregates to external and internal customers for further distribution within the Southwest Area. This position will work closely with sales staff, production managers, railroad carriers, and terminal managers to safely load, transport, unload, store/inventory and distribute aggregate products.
What you'll get to do
- Lead with safety in all aspects for every link in the supply chain; from production to delivery.
- Support strategic initiatives through creative solutions and strong positive communication with sales, production, and business development leadership in addition to three primary railroad carriers.
- Work closely with railroads to ensure best freight rates, maximized service, and prompt solutions to logistics challenges.
- Manage railcar fleet of over 1400 railcars to ensure availability and proper placement to maximize customer service.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Key Performance Indicators of logistics to ensure management objectives in sales and distribution are achieved.
- Understand and support Quality Control initiatives and objectives to ensure customer satisfaction.
- College Degree or equivalent experience in business, management and/or logistics
- 10 years' experience in logistics and supply chain management
- Previous experience participating in Sales & Operational Planning processes
- Extensive critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Experience using SAP
- Understanding of basic accounting procedures
- Understanding of aggregates mining & production
- Experience with trucking construction materials is a plus
- A working knowledge of state, regional, and federal organizations, processes, regulations, and legislation affecting the cement, aggregate, building materials and related industry.
- Experience in effective public presentation and speaking, and interaction with elected government officials, staff, agencies and neighbors and community groups.
- Strong communication and project management skills. Ability to plan and lead projects that require interfaces with multiple stakeholders and differing levels of management.
- Strong demonstrated ability to work in an unsupervised environment.
- Demonstrated organization and coordination skills to handle multiple, simultaneous priorities and projects and meet delivery goals.
- High proficiency with all major and basic office computer technology systems and applications and internet-based systems for research, information, and resources. Working knowledge of Google Earth and ARC-GIS is a plus.
- Willingness to travel 25% of time with majority of travel in Texas and surrounding states.
- Ability to create supporting documentation for Capital Funding request to meet distribution growth initiatives.
- Ability to perform industry research on forecasting for Texas markets.
- Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
