Job Title: Electrician (Temporary)

Location: Tumbler Ridge OR Chetwynd - North East British Columbia

Schedule / Terms of Employment: 12-hour shifts, (7 days on / 7 days off)

Please be aware that no camp facilities are available.

Primary Purpose

Under the general direction of the Plant Maintenance Supervisor; the Electrician have to safely prepare, assemble, install, test, troubleshoot and/or repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related components in all buildings/structures and or fixed/mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliability of the overall electrical systems on our site.
  • Able to understand and interpret blueprints to regulate work procedures and job planning.
  • Able to troubleshoot, diagnose, plan and install components to maintain plant/rail loud out, Drills, LeTourneau and Shovel as well as all buildings/generators /fuel islands on site requiring electrical support.
  • Must operate lifting and pulling devices such as overhead cranes, boom trucks and utility equipment for installation of electrical components during installation and repair of the fixed equipment.
  • Completing monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections, both for safety, operational and ministry reporting.
  • Scheduled greasing to maximize motor-life and facility availability.
  • High Voltage 4160 and statcom as well as Power Line work and emergency power.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and manage time.
  • High level of attention to detail and safe work practices.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and interpersonal skills.
  • Lock out/Tag out for 4160 high voltage components and or power lines.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Red Seal Electrical Ticket.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and the Ministry Code Book.
  • Experience in a mining environment would be an asset.
  • Enthusiastic team player.
  • Able to work outdoors, exposed to the elements throughout all seasons.
