Mine Planning Engineer - 3 Month Planning/Designs
Work Location: Solomon
Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Mine Planning Engineer to join our site-based planning team on an 8/6 roster. Reporting to the Senior Medium Term Planning Engineer, this role is responsible for carrying out various ranges of design and planning activities to support production at Solomon Mine. To be successful in this role candidate must have strong interpersonal skills with both operational, shorter (3 month) and/or longer term (2 year) planning intervals and being able to articulate potential risks and opportunities within the planned works.

Mine Planning Engineer - 3 Month Planning/Designs

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Mine Planning Engineer to join our site-based planning team on an 8/6 roster. Reporting to the Senior Medium Term Planning Engineer, this role is responsible for carrying out various ranges of design and planning activities to support production at Solomon Mine. To be successful in this role candidate must have strong interpersonal skills with both operational, shorter (3 month) and/or longer term (2 year) planning intervals and being able to articulate potential risks and opportunities within the planned works.
Key accountabilities will include:
- 3-month mine plans with the aim to translate the 2-year mine plan into actionable tasks with required resource allocation
- Optimise and deliver operational mining schedule for rolling 3 month and related infrastructure designs to maximise the value of the business
- Scheduling mining and other associate activities to varied planning horizons
- Timely delivery of plans and schedules to meet internal delivery timelines
- Assessment of mining methodology options for both cost and productivity metrics
- Communicating plans, options and designs with relevant stakeholders
- Delivering product quality, pit progression, waste schedules, fleet requirements and other technical guidance as required
- Identify risk and opportunities to the work produced
Qualifications and skills required:
- Relevant experience gained as a mining engineer (6 years minimum) or a Senior Mining Engineer
- Strong medium-term planning skills with option to progress into 2-year planning space (3MP and 2YP)
- Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or similar
- Practical approach to engineering and design problems
- Knowledge of open pit mining, iron ore experience will be an advantage
- Short to medium term planning and scheduling and strong mine design knowledge
- Computer proficiency (ATS, Haul Infinity, Rapid Reserver, Excel, Vulcan)
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with both operations and technical teams
- Team orientation and strong ability to take initiative
- Strong presentation skills to be able to present on Manager's and General Manager's forum
