Description
Under general supervision, identifies, reports and recommends corrective action for a wide variety of workplace environmental factors that may adversely impact employee safety, health and productivity at assigned sites/projects. Leads processes in the Health & Safety Management System, including occupational health programs and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with government laws and regulations, and company policies.

Description
Under general supervision, identifies, reports and recommends corrective action for a wide variety of workplace environmental factors that may adversely impact employee safety, health and productivity at assigned sites/projects. Leads processes in the Health & Safety Management System, including occupational health programs and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with government laws and regulations, and company policies.
- Manage the process to review, approve or reject chemicals for use on site. Serve as technical expert in chemical analysis, equipment and processes
- Perform sampling and chemical analysis and maintain inspection records
- Prepare appropriate reports and presentations for management
- Oversee or collect air, water, vapors gases and dust samples or other potentially toxic materials for analysis; analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw conclusions
- Collaborate with site management to ensure compliance with Freeport-McMoRan, OSHA, MSHA and other regulations and standards
- Communicate effectively in one-on-one and group situations, both verbally and in
writing. - Maintain a current knowledge of Freeport-McMoRan, ISO 45001, OSHA, MSHA and other
regulations and standards - Conduct detailed exposure assessments, analyses of operational procedures, facility design, equipment and materials, audits and incident investigations.
- Develop occupational health procedures and programs based on regulatory and other data driven information
- Inspect work areas and address identified non-conformities to ensure safe work requirements are attained. Develop and recommend appropriate controls for occupational health hazards.
- Manage Industrial Hygiene projects.
- Present health & safety related information and possess intermediate knowledge of site
processes in order to respond to questions or concerns from employees, managers, and
other stakeholders. - Perform other duties as requested
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Education and Work Experience
- Leading personnel and/or projects, AND
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or closely related scientific or technical discipline and three
(3) years of experience in industrial hygiene, OR - Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health or closely related scientific or technical discipline and one (1)
year of experience in industrial hygiene
- Travel Required: Must be willing to travel domestically 30-40% and may include remote areas
- Ability to work with diverse groups and cultures
Preferred Qualificiations:
- Certified Industrial Hygienist
- Working knowledge and experience with naturally occurring radiation
- Working experience involving mine adits, remediation, construction and/or demolition
activities
Physical Demand & Work Environment:
- Travel Required: Must be willing to travel domestically 30-40% and may include remote areas
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor,
manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses,
safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves
and any other protective equipment as required. - Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of
mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by
applicable state laws

- Positions which are held by employees who operate equipment, machinery or motor vehicles in furtherance of performing the essential functions of their job duties, including operating motor vehicles while on Company business or travel (for this purpose "motor vehicles" includes Company owned or leased motor vehicles and personal motor vehicles used by employees in furtherance of Company business or while on Company travel); or
- Positions which Freeport-McMoRan has designated as safety sensitive positions in the applicable job or position description and which upon further review continue to be designated as safety-sensitive based on an individualized assessment of the actual duties performed by a specifically identified employee.
