POSITION OVERVIEW

To guide, direct and implement the activities of the maintenance planning process for all the mine operations equipment to achieve improved performance, quality and productivity of the departmental labor resource.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develops detailed job plans to facilitate compliance with the OEM specifications, warranty consideration, identified best practices, and safety and environmental policies.
  • Development of Application Parts Lists (APL), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and procurement of necessary parts and equipment to complete planned maintenance in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Monitor monthly budget and equipment costs and perform invoice accruals monthly.
  • Assists the manager with the development of annual department budgets.
  • Reviews maintenance plans for safety considerations, completion window, a detailed task list, estimated manpower and tool requirements, estimated job duration including Gantt charts as needed, parts and materials procurement and a cost estimate.
  • Refines planned component replacement (PCR) intervals, routine job plans and major project plans, including the development of SOP's.
  • Recommends action plans to address repetitive and catastrophic component failures. Reviews field investigation reports and failure analysis results to maintain records for the program performance evaluation.
  • Develops and monitors work group key performance indicators (KPI's).
  • Writes technical specifications for required parts and materials to assist in the procurement process.
  • Compiles component and material performance information to justify the technical specs.
  • Assists with the development of one-year and five-year departmental cost and equipment forecasts.
  • Reviews work order backlog and PM sheets including VIMS reports, planned work compliance reports and operation's plans to establish work priorities.
  • Compiles a list of completed job plans from which the weekly planned workload is selected.
  • Chairs weekly planning staff meeting.
  • Chairs monthly maintenance planning meeting.
  • Reviews job plan feedback reports and prepares improvement summary documentation.
  • Logs personnel activity for the planning group monthly performance review.
  • Checks the accuracy of the equipment and component records in SAP.
  • Explains actual versus forecast cost variances for monthly reporting.
  • Furnishes detailed documentation for planned work to be completed by outside contractors.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  • Coordinates and supervises on site vendors.
  • Participates in various company-wide committees.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Thorough knowledge of SAP and MS Office required.
  • Thorough knowledge of CAT VIMS system.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be able to manage time effectively and set priorities.
  • Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • One year of college or technical school
  • Five years of experience in mine maintenance and planning

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be able to walk over rough terrain, sit, climb ladders and stairs, squat, kneel for extended periods of time. Work environment is outdoors and indoors, working at extreme temperatures, weather conditions and may be exposed to chemicals and explosives.
