POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for safety and productivity providing process control/instrumentation support and maintenance services for Silver Bell Mine.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Demonstrate a continuous commitment to safety.
  • Help ensure environmental compliance at Silver Bell.
  • Interface with managers, general supervisors, department heads, supervisors, and hourly workforce. May be required to work in tandem with the Electrical and Maintenance Departments to implement, troubleshoot and maintain electrical and process systems throughout the facility.
  • Monitor, program and maintain Rockwell Automation based plant PLC control system, consisting of multiple PLC5, SLC500, Controllogix 1756 processors and remote I/O racks.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage a Rockwell Factorytalk View SE HMI system with a Windows Client/Server infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain Rockwell Factorytalk SE production Historian.
  • Design and install new remote PLC control stations and equipment.
  • Develop and implement automated supervisory controls to optimize plant, reducing downtime and costs.
  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair all process instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with the electricians to monitor, troubleshoot and repair two parallel 20,541 amp rectifier transformer systems and associated interface equipment.
  • Design and implement various capital and operating projects to improve the SXEW Operation/Silver Bell/Company performance or reduce costs.
  • Maintain fiber optics across the entire Silver Bell site.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain two-way voice radio systems. Including infrastructure and mobile equipment.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis on process equipment.
  • Work with and provide technical and engineering design support to all other Silver Bell departments

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Must have basic technical knowledge of mining, leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning processes.
  • Must have experience in control system design and administration.
  • Experience with Windows PC and Server administration for process control systems.
  • Ladder logic programming and troubleshooting using the Rockwell Automation family of programming software.
  • Must have experience in various industrial communication platforms including: ControlNet, Ethernet/IP, DH+, serial, and RF radio telemetry.
  • Knowledge of measurement and control instrumentation equipment used in industrial process control including, but not limited to: temperature, level, pressure, flow, and conductivity.
  • Familiarity with repair, testing, and calibration of electrical, pneumatic, and electro-hydraulic control valves.
  • Experience installing and maintaining low voltage AC and DC control systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial Ethernet data communications architecture and media including, but not limited to; Cat6, Fiber optic, wireless, and licensed RF radio links.
  • Proficient in reading and interpretation of various design drawings including: instrument loop diagrams, instrument data/spec sheets, P&ID diagrams, one-line power, and electrical control diagrams
  • Must demonstrate the highest commitment to health and safety.
  • Must demonstrate the highest commitment to environmental compliance.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with employees, other supervisors and managers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of one (1) year of college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in plant instrumentation/process control.

Other Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be able to walk over rough terrain, sit, climb ladders and stairs, squat, kneel for extended periods of time. Work environment is outdoors and indoors, working at extreme temperatures, weather conditions and may be exposed to chemicals and explosives.
