Purpose

The Process Manager leads all operations, asset management and technical activities within the process plant, comprising the Metallurgy, Operations, Asset Management and Assay lab groups. The manager sets the vision for the process area and drives accountability to meet or exceed expectations in safety, production, environmental, financial, and technical performance, working in close collaboration with the mining team to develop and execute on safe production plans.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the process area in a manner intrinsically grounded in the company's values and vision, providing clear direction and leadership to all team members.
  • Create a work environment of accountability, openness, and technical and personal curiosity.
  • Encourage collaboration within the team and between disciplines and areas, facilitating constructive professional relationships.
  • Work hand-in-hand mining areas to deliver production targets in a consistent, sustainable way.
  • Coach and mentor process plant team members to improve performance, ensure ongoing growth and development, and create organic succession plans.
  • Set clear priorities for area leads in support of business plans, with well-defined expectations and criteria of success.
  • Sponsor continuous improvement initiatives within the process plant to meet and exceed current expectations.
  • Foster an active culture of continuous improvement where every individual is encouraged to challenge current practices and seek improvement.
  • Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) used for the process technical services and operations teams.
  • Report out on plant objectives and performance in a clear, transparent manner to all levels of the organisation and, when required, outside stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute the Process area's annual business plan and strategy, in alignment with regional and corporate strategies and expectations for financial and productivity performance.
  • Develop and manage the capital expenditure and operating budgets for the Process area, in alignment with site and company business objectives.
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to comprehensive safety, environmental, and social responsibility practices, ensuring that these practices are foundational to the team's daily work.
  • Actively drive a safety-focussed work environment, implementing fatality risk control and verification processes and creating an environment where employees are empowered and expected to speak openly about safety concerns.
  • Manage all contractors and employees to ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures, safety and environmental standards, and local and company regulations.
  • Stand in for the site General Manager as necessary (on a duty roster basis or as the situation requires).
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage risks in the Process area, developing management plans and communicating status and trend direction.
  • Develop practical, viable contingency plans in response to key risks to ensure plan delivery.
  • Work with union business partners to ensure consistent, fair application of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and develop a long-term mutually beneficial working relationship.

Experience
  • 15+ years' technical, engineering, operational, or management experience in a process facility, in a gold and process plant or similar. Minimum 5 years' senior management experience with broad management responsibilities.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing multiple concurrent priorities with multiple key stakeholders, delivering safe production.
  • Demonstrated leadership of a multidisciplinary, multicultural team in a dynamic, complex work environment


Professional Education
  • Bachelor's degree or Technical Diploma in Mineral Process, Metallurgical, Chemical, or Mining Engineering or related field.
  • Additional education in business/finance/management or related fields an asset.


Working Conditions

Work is performed at an industrial ore processing plant and responsibilities require management of hazardous chemicals and work in indoor/outdoor operations. The environment includes exposure to heavy equipment, crushing, grinding, flotation, and cyanide leach operations. Work will be conducted in office, laboratory, and plant environments with occasional requirement to enter mine operations and/or office areas.
