Summary:

This position is part of our corporate human resources team and is embedded in our Assessment and Remediation business unit, serving as a liaison between the business unit and corporate HR. Responsibilities include developing and sharing HR best practices with other HR liaisons and business units, providing business insight into corporate HR functions, and offering strategic, operational, and tactical HR advice to support company goals and mitigate risks while creating and maintaining a consistent and positive experience for candidates and staff. The HR generalist will participate in ongoing processes and initiatives that support business and HR strategies.

The HR generalist acts as a consultant to the business unit staffing coordinator and carries out HR functions as part of a team of engineers, scientists, and other HR professionals. Responsibilities include:
  • Recruiting and staffing - Partnering with business leaders and technical staff to identify staffing needs; evaluating and recommending methods of sourcing and recruiting candidates; developing job postings; screening resumes; coordinating interviews; interviewing, evaluating, and selecting candidates as part of a team; delivering offers; and assisting with new employee integration.
  • Employee relations and compliance - Investigating and addressing issues; interpreting HR policies to advise leaders and staff; assisting in the development of performance improvement plans and/or disciplinary actions.
  • Staff development and rewards - Supporting talent management processes, including our feedback and coaching programs; developing content and delivering occasional training on HR topics; participating in salary setting and other business processes.
  • Corporate HR initiatives and projects - Participating in or leading HR initiatives and projects, such as performance management/feedback, HR compliance, training and development, benchmarking and analyzing industry and competitive practices, talent management, diversity & inclusion, or other efforts.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related area
  • 4 or more years of experience related to the job responsibilities described above
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to apply judgment and initiative in HR-related activities
  • Diplomatic, with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong client-service focus and willingness to adjust approach and persevere to gain buy-in from key stakeholders and deliver results
  • Experience providing data and business insight to support recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a team and build and maintain relationships at multiple levels and across multiple office locations
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and negotiate deadlines with multiple stakeholders
  • Agility to shift priorities and focus as business needs dictate
  • Knowledge of employment law
  • Experience using HRIS and applicant tracking systems
  • Strong computer skills with special expertise in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Acceptable criminal background check result


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 or more years of experience related to the job responsibilities described above
  • Strong interest and aptitude for gathering, analyzing, reporting, and portraying data in a concise format
  • Experience with engineering, manufacturing, professional service, or consulting firms with an emphasis on technical recruiting for engineering, scientist, technician roles
  • Extensive experience developing and using behavioral and competency-based interview guides
  • PHR/SPHR professional certification or equivalent
