About this role

What will you be responsible for?

Reporting to the VP, Sustainability and External Relations, the Senior Communications Specialist will own the development, strategy and implementation of internal and external communications for Newmont North America.
The role proactively supports the delivery of Communications programs, as well as contribute to global projects to support operations in the region. The Senior Specialist, Communications collaborates with site S&ER teams in North America and the corporate Communications team to strengthen the Newmont's reputation as an industry leader in value creation supported by strong environmental, social and governance practices.

What you will do:

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
• We develop and execute communications strategies, presentations, and key messages that drive partner awareness and strengthens the company's reputation in the region
• Work alongside North America site teams to provide communications support ensuring alignment with the organization's standards and key messaging
• We proactively build strong, effective relationships with internal functions and regional leadership to deliver regional communication to employees including company announcements, town halls, project updates
• We coordinate daily maintenance and content management of various internal communication platforms including company-wide intranet, email, newsletters and Yammer
• We lead and develop content for Newmont Canada's social media channels
• We collaborate with internal departments to support the rollout and implementation of company initiatives and programs
• We actively participate as communications counsel, providing support in the implementation of the region's Inclusion and Diversity strategy
• We supervise media outlets, facilitate incoming media interactions and proactively develop relationships with media outlets
• We supervise the creative development and brand consistency of promotional materials including advertising, presentations, banners, sponsorship and videos

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!
• Bachelor's degree in Communications or Marketing Communications
• Min. 5-7 years of experience in corporate communications or marketing communications.
• Direct experience leading digital channels and digital communications.
• Validated strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent planning, organization and project management skills.
• Mining, construction, utilities or other heavy validated experience is helpful.
• Strong ability to effectively utilize SharePoint, Yammer, Adobe Suite, Hootsuite, and the Microsoft Office suite of applications.\
• Validated ability to speak French and/or Spanish will be an asset

Working conditions and location

Where you will be located!
• The position is located at the North America Regional Office in Vancouver, BC.
• This incumbent may be required to travel to sites within the region and Denver corporate office
