Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is seeking a Piping Designer to join the Piping Design Group in the Tampa FL office.

Hatch's Tampa, FL office specializes in phosphates as well as mining and mineral production facilities. Hatch works on brownfield and Greenfield plans for expansions and new plants. Hatch also is used as commissioning agents between the contracting companies and the clients.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Develop plant layouts for process/utility piping systems with quality and economy constantly in mind.
  • Coordinate design activities with other members of the piping team, as well as other design disciplines, to ensure proper interface and compliance with project objectives.
  • Understand and follow established company workflows.
  • Prepare and deliver plant design documents (plans and piping isometrics).
  • Participate in technical meetings related to project progress as required.
  • Check / Initiate comment drawings and project documents.
  • Comment on vendor drawings as received.
  • Modify and revise design documents as required.
  • Perform field surveys, when necessary, to collect information, or to update the design documents to "As Built" status when required by terms of the project contract.


You bring to the role:
  • Must have previous 0-5 years of Piping/Mechanical design experience (S.P.E.D. Training/ Certificate a plus).
  • StrongCAD design 2D and 3D experience (i.e.: Microstation, AutoCAD, Bentley PSDS, PDS).
  • Experience in fertilizer, chemical, petrochemical, mining, or other heavy industrial sectors is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, as well as standard drafting conventions.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Excellent safety awareness.
