About the role

We are looking for a Superintendent: Engineering Services To manage the maintenance and fabrication services provided by the Engineering Services sections.

Reporting to the Manager: Engineering Services and working in a collaborative community within the Engineering Services team, you will:
  • Manage the operation and maintenance of effluent treatment and potable water plants.
  • Liaise daily with contractors and customers to ensure an efficient support service.
  • Provide technical input and manage the Central Maintenance Workshop operations by overseeing major repairs toward ensuring optimal turnaround time.
  • Manage the maintenance of electrical systems in Engineering Services buildings.
  • Manage the maintenance of the Laboratory building and equipment.
  • Provide a timeous support service regarding breakdown maintenance to all of RBM.
  • Conduct legal inspections to ensure work and services comply with set standards.
  • Manage maintenance, replacement and costs related to the services provided by Engineering Services. Engineering activities).
  • Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the Manager.

SHEQ management - 20%
  • Keep abreast with new technologies and developments toward increasing productivity.
  • Ensure asset maintenance is carried out in accordance with safety, engineering, schedule and quality requirements.
  • Maintain and improve safety, health and environmental standards and practices.
  • Supervise investigations, regular audits within designated areas, present findings regarding incidents to ensure effective problem resolution within RBM specifications.
  • Monitor external audit findings regarding water and sewerage operations.
  • Conduct customer surveys to ensure continuous improvement of service delivery within RBM standards. Control the contaminated waste area around the CMW workshop and ensure disposal occurs within stipulated legal- and RBM requirements.
  • Ensure the section's compliance with the various Acts which govern RBM

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • N5 with relevant Trade Test
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (advantageous)
  • GCC Mines and Works (advantageous)
  • 5 years engineering maintenance experience in mining or heavy industry (of which 3 years should have been in a supervisory capacity).
  • Mechanical knowledge and sound maintenance experience in equipment.
