Position summary
Passionate about Analytics? Do you have experience using Power BI and love using data to help drive key business decisions? If so, an exciting opportunity has become available for a Performance Analyst to join our BSC (Business Services Centre). This position is a full-time permanent role within a friendly, fast paced and high performance team.

The Business Services Centre (BSC) contributes to Downer's success by delivering scalable finance-related services, leveraging the capability of our people, technology and standardised processes.

Services provided by the BSC to Downer Group include payroll, purchase to pay, accounts receivable, and travel and expense management. The delivery of these services is enabled by the combined efforts of BSC's solution advisory, solution training and systems accounting teams, together with change management, finance and human resources specialists.

A significant part of our work involves introducing and supporting change and optimisation for the benefit of our businesses and internal customers. This is a high-volume processing environment where operations management and continuous improvement are vital to success. The BSC has around 300 staff, pays over 45,000 employees, receipts revenues more than $10b and makes supplier payments in excess of $6b.

THE ROLE
This role forms part of the BSC Performance & Reporting team, and will partner with the Payroll leadership team and key stakeholders to evaluate data to gain insight and report on the payroll performance, to improve decision making and drive opportunities for improvement:
  • Assist with preparation of Customer management reports and data analysis of payroll activities, which includes the quarterly Service Level Reports in accordance with the BSC payroll Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Partner with decision makers, system owners and end users to identify and document gaps in current systems and processes.
  • Partner with stakeholders to create operational measures that enable Payroll to deliver its services efficiently.
  • Develop and automate the calculation of relevant payroll metrics
  • Analyse and interpret payroll information for inclusion into the BSC Scorecard
  • Support data-based root cause analysis and deployment of continuous improvement tools and practices within the BSC
  • Conduct analysis against defined performance metrics to identify efficiency improvement opportunities, presenting findings to operational leaders.

This position can be based in either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.


ABOUT YOU
  • Tertiary qualifications in finance or related discipline
  • Professional qualification as CA, CPA or CIMA preferred, not essential
  • Shared services experience or experience in large volume / complex organisations
  • High attention to detail, analysis of process and performance data, dashboard creation - Clear, succinct presentation of insights from data
  • Understanding of Payroll processes highly desirable, not essential
  • Strong Microsoft applications skills (including Excel, Word and Outlook) and Power BI
  • Business process analysis and improvement skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Collaboration and Collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in large ERP software with JD Edwards and/or SAP preferred, not essential
