Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Maintenance/Environmental Technician to join the Closure team at our McLaughlin Mine. The successful candidate will provide field work support and labor; schedule preventive maintenance for vehicles, heavy equipment, pumps, pipelines, water evaporators, generators and other site equipment; perform other duties as assigned.

Maintenance Responsibilities:

• Perform skilled maintenance activities varying with area of assignment, including performing basic trade activities such as electrical, welding, plumbing, carpentry, and equipment operation. Carry out maintenance in accordance to site procedures and manufacturer requirements
• Inventories and order supplies, equipment, and materials for projects, including determining appropriate supplies and materials and locating vendors.
• Schedules preventive maintenance for vehicles, heavy equipment, pumps, pipelines, water evaporators, generators, and other site equipment.
• Maintains maintenance and management tracking system and preventive maintenance planning. Maintains logs and records of work performed and materials used. Maintains operations and maintenance manuals.
• Promptly respond to electrical system problems, schedule maintenance and repairs with qualified contractors
• Oversees SCADA system and ensure functionality
• Facility inspections
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed Per Barrick Gold standards
• Obtain quotes and identify qualified contractors for various electrical needs including high voltage lines and SCADA programming
• Vegetation management & removal
• Exemplify the safety culture

Environmental Responsibilities:

• Collect environmental data and samples necessary for environmental compliance reporting
• Ensure accurate documentation of sample collection and data
• Manage analytical data within the EQuIS database

Qualifications:

• Computer literacy and application capability (Microsoft Office) required
• Semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work on a variety of facilities and equipment required
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment required
• Ability to safely operate equipment required
• Ability to operate hand and power tools required
• Ability to maintain accurate records required
• Communications and interpersonal skill to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and contractors sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive or deliver work direction required
• Ability to work independently required
• Available for on-call for emergency call outs required
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required
• Possession of a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required
• The position requires the ability to work outside and regularly walk over uneven, sloped, rocky, wet or icy ground. Must have the ability to lift 50 or more pounds consistently and safely. required

About Homestake's McLaughlin Gold Mines

The McLaughlin Gold mine operated from 1983 through 2002 and produced over 3 million ounces of gold during that time. In 2003 Homestake entered into a conservation agreement with Napa County Land Trust and the University of California Davis to manage 7,050 acres. The Donald & Sylvia McLaughlin Natural Reserve is in the Inner Coast Ranges of northern California approximately 75 miles north of San Francisco.
