Regional Finance Operations Manager - Financial Reporting & Corporate Accounting

Responsible for the day to day running of financial reporting, analysis and related tasks, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of all entities reporting within the LATAM & AP Region. The role will involve the running and administering Corporate Accounting and execution of ad-hoc finance projects and implementation of controls and procedures to resolve ongoing issues within the Region. This role will report to Regional Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for accurate and timely financial reporting of all entities within the Region, including monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting.
  • Review of monthly financial results and statement of financial position, including custody of the SMR/Variance Analysis process.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for External and Internal audits, ensuring findings are escalated as required to management and actions to address findings are developed and executed.
  • Responsible for building solid relationships with all stakeholders (i.e. Corporate finance team & mine sites) and including providing month-end support from time to time.
  • Providing assistance- and guidance to site finance teams in respect of all technical accounting issues.
  • Managing all corporate accounting matters for the region, including driving the execution of Corporate Simplification in line with plan.
  • Primary point of contact on rehabilitation and closure costs reviews. Working closely with the sustainability lead to ensure provisions are appropriate and optimized as required.
  • Involvement in the preparation of monthly and quarterly current and deferred tax calculations and reporting, working closely with the Regional Tax Director on all Tax reporting matters.
  • Responsible for drafting and coordinating of regional statutory financial statements in terms of IFRS. This will also entail ongoing communication with the auditors in terms of quarterly reviews and audits.
  • Responsible for providing ongoing training within the region, ensuring compliance with IFRS and the Barrick Accounting policies.
  • Assisting with the implementation of controls, effective tax planning and accounting surrounding financing, financial structuring and projects within the region.
  • Responsible for assigned projects to improve reporting accuracy and adherence to SOX controls within the Region.


Qualifications:

  • Appropriate University degree in finance or accounting, required.
  • A post degree qualification or certification (CA, ACCA, CPA), preferred.
  • Previous experience working for the Big-4 audit and advisory companies will be advantageous
  • Proven track record in financial analytics and reporting with prior experience in operational finance (e.g. Finance Manager) considered an advantage.
  • Eligible to live and work in the United States, (Miami) prerequisite
  • Fluent in English language, required
  • Fluent in Spanish language, advantageous
