- Tertiary qualifications in finance, commerce, business
- CA / CPA Qualifications & Membership
Knowledge & Experience
- At least 5-8 year experience including financial accounting, treasury, taxation & audit
- At least 3 year experience in a corporate environment in a medium to large organisation
- Strong knowledge of AASB reporting standards and producing of statutory accounts
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation including income tax, GST and FBT compliance
- Experience liaising with external auditors
- Experience writing / developing internal financial policies
- Experience in Accounting System Development
- Demonstrated staff management skills
- Experience in interacting with individuals at functional director/head of department level
- Awareness and commitment to quality management and risk concepts.
Responsibilities
Key Result Area: Preparation of End Of Month and End of Year Financial Statements for internal and external stakeholders and ensuring:
- Accurate and timely completion in accordance with approved accounting timetable
- Presentation in accordance with accounting standards and Company policies
- All assets and liabilities of the Company valued correctly
- Ensure Balance sheet reconciliations and all monthly journals completed in timely & accurate manner
- Financial Reporting for the Public Transport Authority and Shareholders
Key Result Area: External Reporting Compliance and Obligations
- Co-ordinate production of annual statutory accounts
- Co-ordinate completion of annual external financial audit
- Ensure all tax obligations/payments are met including Income Tax, GST, FBT and Payroll Tax
Other:
- Manage a small finance team (Accounts Officers)
- Continuous development of Accounting Systems (Microsoft Great Plains) + other technological system improvements
- Ensure Accounting Policies and other relevant business financial policies are developed and maintained for the organisation
- Treasury Function - Manage banking accounts / control release of payments from banking platform
- Manage Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable functions
- Ensure adequate financial internal controls are in place to prevent fraud
- Develop sufficient payroll knowledge (including payroll system) to provide management support as required to Payroll team
- Manage insurances including workers comp
- Provide support to Head of Finance on contractual/reporting issues with Public Transport Authorities as required.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong system skills - Accounting (Microsoft Great Plains), reporting (Business Object Finance), Office 365
- High level of integrity and accountability
- Proven ability to build effective professional relationships with key stakeholders
- Proven ability to solicit input from managers and to work across functions/departments and shareholders to drive business outcomes
- Ability to process complex matters and articulate them into succinct positions internally and externally
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure from external and internal stakeholders and still retain a positive attitude.
