Location: Stillwater Mine

REPORTING TO: Mobile Maintenance Superintendent

Position Purpose and Summary:

Effectively manage the activities of the planning and scheduling maintenance team in alignment with SMC'S leadership principles (guide, educate, and train) with particular focus on enhancing equipment reliability, managing costs and reduce environmental incidents. Lead the team in the development of strategies and processes that will optimize the production performance while ensuring effective use of available resources

Essential Functions:

  • Working knowledge of applicable MSHA rules and regulations
  • Leadership qualities including: character, teamwork, communication, business sense, and vision
  • Specialized training on mechanical systems and 5 to 7 years related experience or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, hydraulics or related field
  • Understanding of Maintenance and Reliability processes including PM's, PdM's, RCA and asset health management.
  • Experience with maintenance planning and scheduling functions
  • Experience using JD Edwards or equivalent maintenance programs.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Supervisory experience
  • 5-7 years underground maintenance experience
  • Ability to use related O.E.M. manuals
  • Computer skills plus the ability to learn and utilize Company authorized software


Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:

  • Manage short-term and long-term planning, scheduling, and reliability work for the maintenance department
  • Develop asset management plans to achieve the Asset Management Strategy
  • Review progress against weekly and monthly plans, reconcile and make changes
  • Implement a departmental improvement plan to meet the requirements of the Sibanye Stillwater asset management standard
  • Foster a work environment of continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain high professional asset management discipline standards, in terms of quality of work, timeliness of work and feedback into the asset management system
  • Collaborate with supply chain and warehouse to improve parts receivable, storage and delivery services to the asset management department
