Assist the national counterpart in mechanical engineering by mentoring and coaching so that the national counterpart can successfully manage capital and operating projects and implement a broad range of continuous process improvement initiatives that improve the overall business performance of the Concentrating Division. Support the entire Concentrating Division with technical analysis and project management for future capital projects to support the large scale, complex underground ores from GBC, KL, and DMLZ.

Additional Responsibilities

1. Promote conformance with PTFI safety and environmental standards within the Concentrating Division.

2. Work with counterpart to identify re-occurring non-conformances in nominated mechanical calculation and develop sustainable corrective measures that are agreed with operations and maintenance personnel.

3. Assist national counterpart to ensure corrective action is taken against identified circuit non-conformances in assigned circuit area on a daily basis and results are evaluated and reported.

4. Assign tasks that will enhance the competencies of Level 1 and Level 2 Mechanical Engineers and ensure that they are held to accountable to the required work standard.

5. Determine financial strategies to optimize the project budget to meet or come in under cost estimates, while still meeting the project timeline.

6. Provide mentoring, coaching, and skill development to support counterpart and national staff in conveying, piping and pumping calculation.

7. Coordinate with operations personnel, maintenance personnel, consultants and suppliers to evaluate new technologies to provide continuous improvement in nominated circuit areas.

8. Manage approved project either AFE or ESR in concentrating division and ensuring the needs of operations and maintenance departments are met.

9. Understanding of drawing format and ability to create sketch, in order to solve project problems at nominated circuit areas.

10. Experience in piping and pump calculation and ability to do manual calculations for piping and pump system, including pump in series and parallel, and should be able to transfer knowledge to other national Mechanical Engineers. Familiar with piping and pumping calculation software is a great advantage.

11. Experience in conveyor design and ability to do manual calculations for conveyor design, including ore trajectory analysis, and should be able to transfer knowledge to other national Mechanical Engineers. Familiar with conveyor design software is a great advantage (Delta helix).

12. Experience in HVAC system calculation and the ability to do manual calculations for cooling system and should be able to transfer knowledge to other national Mechanical Engineers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering along with ten (10) years of experience in projects specializing in piping, pumping, mechanical and conveying in a large scale, complex mine or oil & gas industries.
  • Mineral Processing knowledge is an advantage.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to choose appropriate communication methods for situations.
  • Proficient using MS Office software.
  • Ability to successfully manage long-term and short-term projects.
  • Strong team leadership skills - ability to supervise human resources.
