Hatch is currently seeking recent Engineering graduates to join its team in Pittsburgh, PA. The Engineer will provide engineering analysis, design and construction observation support for a wide range of local and national water, wastewater and site development projects. As an Engineer, you will work under the supervision of a Licensed Profession Engineer (P.E.) toincorporate design concepts into design development and work with the project team to produce construction documents. You will interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate specific assignments pertaining to the overall project with fellow team members. You will perform work compliant with client contractual terms and local, state, and federal codes, ordinances, rules and/or regulations while ensuring completion on time and on budget.You will coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and multi-disciplinary team members.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Lead Civil Engineer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, quantities, cost and schedule.
  • Prepare Engineering Work Packages (EWPs) in consultation with the Lead Civil Engineer.
  • Perform conceptual and detailed engineering design.
  • Prepare engineering calculations.
  • Prepare technical specifications.
  • Prepare data sheets.
  • Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise.
  • Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates.
  • Prepare and/or review project procedures, standard specifications and design criteria.
  • Participate in and contribute to design reviews.
  • Carry out assigned tasks within budget and schedule.
  • Assist in defining project scope.
  • Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologists.
  • Ensure co-ordination with designers and engineers within the civil discipline and with other disciplines.
  • Construction supervision and management dependent upon project demands.
  • Assist in the commissioning on site as required.
  • Assist in compilation and incorporate the safety in design plan.


Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent degree).
  • E.I.T. Registration is a plus.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience working on civil, site, and storm-water management design projects is preferred.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
