Position summary
Downer Rail and Transit Systems (RTS) is committed to providing the highest quality of Rollingstock & Overhaul services for both the local Queensland and wider Australian markets.

We are currently seeking Boilermakers for Fixed Term Contract Roles based at our Newport Facility, Victoria.

About you:
  • Carry out welding activities in accordance with documented criteria
  • Verify compliance against project acceptance documentation
  • Knowledge and experience in a workshop environment.
  • Ensure all work is performed to compliance standards
  • Foster the implementation of learnings and continuous improvement activities
  • Work unsupervised within a team environment
  • A commitment to upholding a ZERO Harm environment

Candidates will have the following:
  • Relevant Trade Certificate recognised in Australia - Engineering Tradesperson Fabricator / Welder
  • Must have an excellent understanding of all technical aspects of rail vehicles and proven experience in the heavy maintenance field
  • You should be able to read, comprehend and apply technical drawings
  • Knowledge of engineering best practices and electric traction is desirable
  • High level of self-motivation, tenacity and determination.
  • Ability to implement change and lead quality and zero harm initiatives.
  • Ability to drive projects and complete within specified time frames and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work in collaboration with others in our organisation and take pride in the achievements of the team;
  • Strive for improvement and innovation, and have the courage to think and actively contribute new initiatives that benefit Downer overall;
  • Demonstrate integrity and responsibility through honest, respectful and transparent communication;
