Position summary
BUMA Australia (pronounced 'boo·muh') was established in 2021 to acquire the Open Cut Mining business of Downer. This acquisition included the transition of all people, mining services contracts, assets, systems and intellectual property from a business which has successfully provided mining and civil services in diverse locations and across many commodities for over 75 years. Currently BUMA Australia successfully manages operations across four sites and we have plans to continue to expand and grow.

BUMA Australia PTY LTD is currently seeking a Workshop Maintenance Superintendent to join the team at our Meandu site which is a residential mine located 25 kilometres south-east of Kingaroy. This is permanent role and a residential position; therefore, no camp or accommodation is provided.

This role will see you provide the maintenance team with effective leadership, planning and resources to achieve zero harm, safe systems of work, quality, performance, financial objectives and operational targets, within budget, to targets of availability and reliability and to manufacturer's specification.

This is a permanent opportunity working a 5:2 roster.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
  • Ensure effective resource allocation (such as people, equipment, and resources) to meet maintenance work targets and schedules.
  • Define performance expectations for Maintenance personnel and monitor performance.
  • Track maintenance performance (through supervisors and leading hands), and ensure operational issues are managed and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Review plant performance at the project (in terms of availability, breakdowns and backlog) and ensure remedial or preventative action is taken as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the site Project Management Plan (PMP).
  • Monitor work of subcontractors to ensure that they implement the requirements of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Ensure familiarity and compliance with the industrial instrument regulating employment conditions at the site.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets and track expenditure.

ABOUT YOU:
  • Trade qualifications, plus further tertiary study and a minimum of 10 years' experience in the management of mobile and fixed mining equipment maintenance.
  • Significant experience in plant/equipment maintenance planning.
  • Demonstrated positive safety leadership skills and safety behaviour
  • Effective people management and development experience and skills
  • Strong organisational, communication and planning skills
  • Demonstrated positive safety leadership skills and safety behaviour.
  • Experience working for a medium to large mine operator is desirable.
