We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to support the RT Closure and Exploration senior leaders and their leadership teams. The role requires strong analytical support and a sophisticated ability to influence and drive change.

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced finance professional with the passion and desire to drive the financial planning and support the performance of a large business, with proven engagement and influence skills and highly demonstrated ability to run financial analysis and planning processes, solve complex problems and to identify opportunities and deliver results.

In this role, you will:
  • Be a part of a high performing finance team, partnering to drive business performance, providing decision and execution support to senior leaders across Closure and Exploration.
  • Provide senior management with relevant, detailed, accurate and timely financial analysis, studies and counsel to influence and shape growth and closure strategies
  • Manage direct reports and support the broader team to improve skillsets and effectiveness, including coaching and mentoring
  • Strongly exhibit Rio Tinto's values, and strive for continuous improvement and excellence, helping establish new benchmarks for a finance team's contribution to business success
  • Partner with stakeholders to proactively drive financial analysis and cost discipline and influence outcomes through providing a decision framework supported by insightful and accurate analysis
  • Build rapport with a variety of senior stakeholders in Closure and Exploration and across Finance including Finance & Accounting Services, Treasury, Tax and Risk
  • Understand performance to identify improvement opportunities, and support the business in developing high value initiatives to optimize business outcomes
  • Drive process optimization across the FBP team, fostering a continuous improvement mindset, leveraging available technologies while ensuring effective governance and compliance through effective application of financial controls and risk management
  • Support country entry and exit for our exploration activities as well as plant and location closures throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa

Your contribution

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Bachelor and/or professional qualification MBA, ACA, CPA
  • 8 years + finance experience within a complex global organisation
  • Fluency in both English and French (written and verbal)
  • A team player with excellent communication, influence and engagement skills at all levels
  • Ability to solve complex problems where precedence may not exist
  • Genuine curiosity for understanding detailed business performance and using that understanding to develop insights and improvement initiatives. Continuous improvement, value creation with evidence of identifying and mitigating risks
  • Analytical and forward thinking competencies
  • Strong background of influencing and working with diverse teams in matrix model
  • Expertise across a full range of standard business, finance and presentation toolkits (SAP, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI, etc.) and an aptitude for identifying technology based solutions to enable increased efficiency and performance improvement
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Languages skills: fluency in French and English

Where you will be working

The Business & Technology Support FBP team reports through to the Group CFO and supports Safety, Technical & Projects, Strategy & Development and Central Functions including IS&T, Corporate Affairs, Finance and Human Resources. With a breadth of scope that covers exploration, project development and technical excellence, mergers & acquisition, business development through to closure; and all the functions that are necessary to run our business. You will be working closely with your direct manager in Reading and remotely with the rest of the FBP team (based in multiple locations with concentrations in Brisbane, Perth, Salt Lake City and Montreal).
