About the role

We are looking for an Electrical Systems Technician to support the maintenance of the electrical and controls system at a large industrial facility. This role will be developing into the technical expert for the electrical and control systems as well as the operating equipment at the facility.

This role is a great opportunity for someone with exposure to industrial electrical and control systems to grow their experience at a challenging facility. Reporting to the Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Coordinator, you will:
    • Manage and execute changes to the instrumentation at the facility.
    • Write and execute testing procedures for plant instrumentation.
    • Develop and perform the training of electricians and instrumentation technicians on relevant equipment, systems, and troubleshooting methods.
    • Identify root causes to electrical, automation, and instrumentation failures and implement solutions to prevent reoccurrence of issues.
    • 20-25% of time spent on call supporting operations by providing remote or on site trouble shooting and making decisions on how to bring equipment back online.

What you'll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
    • Relevant Experience working in industrial settings with comparable electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.
    • High level of English Competency (both written and oral)
    • Knowledge of electrical policies, standards, and codes pertaining to industrial electrical systems.
    • Experience at an industrial facility.
    • Experience with motor starter circuits and variable frequency drives.
    • Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.

It will also be beneficial if you have:
    • Experience with Emerson Rosemount transmitters.
    • Experience with Fischer Valves and Positioners.
    • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC and Emerson DeltaV DCS systems
    • Knowledge of High Voltage Distribution Systems up to 44kV

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903 and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
