Position Description

Barrick is looking for an Analyst to join the Treasury team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Treasury, the Analyst will be responsible for a wide spectrum of finance and treasury activities and be a valued member of a small Treasury team.

Responsibilities Include

  • Maintaining robust process for monthly and quarterly gold sales, ensuring smooth communication between sites, refineries, and Corporate Treasury.
  • Tracking bullion purchased from the mines, through the refining process, and on to the delivery of metal to our banking counterparties.
  • Updating and maintenance of the bullion transfer system.
  • Managing and maintenance of metal royalty and streaming processes and payments.
  • Ensure that documents related to banking activities are up to date.
  • Preparing Treasury-related wires for approval and execution.
  • Preparing cash management plans and reports.
  • Investing Barrick's excess cash with our bank counterparties.
  • Assisting our banking partners and refineries with their internal compliance and KYC activities related to all Barrick entities when they arise.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with our key banking partners.
  • Booking trades and run daily/weekly reports in SAP Treasury.
  • Assisting with quarterly Treasury internal controls.
  • Ensuring adherence with the compliance activities of the Treasury department.
  • Continuous monitor of counterparty credit risk exposures.
  • Monitoring and reporting on developments in metals, currency, energy and interest rate markets, and on general economic and financial market trends.
  • Liaising with back-office function to ensure accuracy of spot and forward deals for metal, currency, energy and interest rate derivative instruments, including forwards, options and swaps.
  • Reviewing of external financial statements (and similar reports) prior to issuance to ensure accuracy of treasury-related items.
  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting with capital market transactions as required.
  • Preparing Treasury-related reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Acting as a liaison with Accounting, Tax, Legal and other departments.
  • Other special projects and duties as required
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Commerce, or related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of related work experience.
  • Professional designation (CPA or CFA) preferred, or progress towards one.
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg, Mineman, and SAP Treasury an asset, but not required.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Experience with using and/or implementing Treasury Management Systems considered a strong asset.
  • General knowledge of, and interest in, financial markets, derivative instruments, and accounting procedures an asset.
