Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning, the Senior Cost Analyst is responsible for supporting financial planning and business analysis for the Water Quality Management (WQM) department, and acting as a business partner for WQM in the delivery of financial reporting and planning requirements. This is a temporary 6-month position.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with advanced analytical, critical thinking and organizational abilities. We require someone with proven experience in communicating complex, technical information through a finance lens to a variety of audiences. Finally, excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills would be vital in building organization knowledge regarding the financial significance of WQM activities.

Responsibilities :
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Complete cost model support and maintenance for all stages of the annual business planning cycle, including forecast, budget, five year plan, and life of mine
  • Maintain and continuously improve WQM actuals, forecast and budget processes and analysis for operating expenses and capital
  • Coordinate and maintain all water business partner finance functions, including supporting financial compliance, financial information systems, costing, accounts payable, and project justifications
  • Maintain an effective financial control and reporting system for activities that are unique to the WQM department, including integration of controls and reporting of projects under contractual arrangements, management reporting enhancements for water operations and projects, and non-routine spend approval processes
  • Participate in financial planning, and operational activities and strategies to provide financial guidance, advice, and analysis to support the financial reporting cycle
  • Review and interpret financial results, forecasts, and economic studies with management in order to determine the financial impact on the operation and Coal Business Unit


Qualifications :
  • Accounting designation (CPA )
  • Minimum five years’ experience in finance, preferably within a mining or manufacturing environment
  • Excellent digital literacy and advanced user of financial data and reporting systems such as MS Excel, PowerPoint, Dynamics AX, and Atlas Reporting
  • Complementary financial, project management, technical, or planning accreditation would be considered an asset
