Fortescue is now consistently producing 175-180 million tonnes of iron ore per year and has an exciting future ahead, establishing itself for future growth in a global market through innovation, product diversification and asset development.
The company is scheduled to commence production at its Iron Bridge magnetite mine in mid-2022.
Iron Bridge is Fortescue's US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.

Summary of role
Key accountabilities will include:

- Implement and Lead the Operational Readiness plan from concept to Operations in the HSE disciplines
- Manage safety management systems including policies, procedures manuals and practices and electronic reporting platforms.
- Work with Leaders to ensure the strategy is implemented effectively and suitable to their operational needs and risk profile.
- Championing the Contractor Management System and the Major Hazards Management projects
- Identify risks, develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and monitor outcomes;
- Coordinate Hazops for Iron Bridge Operations in conjunction with key stakeholders
- Support the Investigation and report on incidents and near misses, identify actions and make appropriate recommendations for improvements.
- Monitor and continually improve policies and procedures to ensure they are effective and compliant to corporate requirements as well as legislative requirements.
- Monitoring the implementation of HSE improvement projects and cost reduction initiatives, supporting Management of Change processes.
- Coordination of Site Emergency Services/Incident Management
Qualifications and skills required:

- Demonstrated substantial leadership experience of Health, Safety and Environment disciplines in Mining / Mineral Processing / Resources Sector.
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
- Experience with Risk Management Coordination and Reporting
- Safety Auditing qualification Lead Auditor (desirable)
- Great Knowledge and understanding of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
- Demonstrable Experience in Implementing / Improving Permit to Work and Isolations Systems.
- Demonstrated experience in contractor management
- Ability to lead, influence and build effective relationships at all levels
- Demonstrated experience in ICAM investigations (or similar)
- Experience in procedural (safety) development
- Data analysis, trending & reporting
- Experience in project management would be highly regarded
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence or equivalent
