Scope of work:

Innu Inuit Redpath Limited Partnership (IIR) will be the primary contractor on an underground mine project located on the east coast of Labrador, approximately 350 km north of Goose Bay. Future mining from the two separate underground deposits will extend the life of this operation for at least another decade. Both deposits contain Nickel and Copper and at peak production, 2.54 million tons will be mined annually.

The scope of work includes installations of UG Wash Bay, Fuel/Lube Bay, Maintenance Bays, Doors/Bulkheads, Sumps, Pump Stations, Refuge Stations, Paste/Backfill piping installations. Also an Ore Handling System including a Rock Breaker, Grizzly, Bin Discharge and Conveyor System.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the primary role of the Senior Engineer is to support site engineering, QA/QC, construction and management teams in vertical development, underground construction, supply chain, estimating, project controls and contracts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Attend coordination meetings with the client and ensure priorities are aligned.
    • Act as a Liaison between project controls, management, and technical staff ensuring project schedule, construction drawings and execution are in-line.
    • Understand the contract and ensure all parties are following its guidelines.
    • Work with QA/QC contractor and ensure documentation is submitted and organized.
    • Supervise technical department and support as required.
    • Support construction and development operations as required.
    • Work with Supply Chain department doing material take offs, tracking, and scheduling of deliveries.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of engineering degree in mining, civil or mechanical/professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in infrastructure construction.
    • Good understanding of general business interfaces and/or processes as they relate to all departments with the organization.
    • Experience with EPCM and client interactions on a project level is an asset.
    • Strong ability to work within QA/QC requirements.
    • Ability to manage projects, prioritize and organize multiple requests.
    • Attention to details with strong work ethic.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Comprehensive computer skills including Microsoft Office, MS Projects or Primavera.
    • Experience with estimating processes.
    • Knowledge of CAD based programs is an asset.
    • Underground mining industry experience is an asset

    • Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment.
    • Work in accordance with local legislation
