SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.

We are seeking a Senior Mine Water Management and Treatment Engineer.

Description of Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Senior Mine Water Management and Treatment Engineer in Canada. We have offices in Vancouver, Yellowknife, Calgary, Saskatoon and Sudbury, but are also open to this position being remote. At SRK we value independence and you will have the opportunity to develop your own consulting practice. We work primarily on domestic and international mine water management projects. In SRK`s Geoenvironmental practice, there are many opportunities to work on interdisciplinary projects with geotechnical engineers, hydrogeologists and geochemists on a variety of challenging and unusual projects.

Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Developing water management plans, from conceptual design to detailed engineering
  • Supporting the evaluation, design, and implementation of water treatment systems for mining effluents
    • Establishing process design basis and design criteria
    • Developing PFDs and P&IDs
    • Process modeling and mass and energy balances
    • Preparing equipment specifications
    • Operational and capital cost estimating
  • Assisting in commissioning, optimization, and troubleshooting of water treatment systems
  • Reviewing and interpreting water quality and water treatment system operating data
  • Preparing water balance models for domestic and international mining sector projects
  • Assisting in field data collection programs
  • Preparing technical reports and presentations


Essential Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:
  • A degree in Environmental, Civil or Chemical Engineering
  • Over 10 years of related work experience
  • Professional registration, or eligibility to obtain it
  • Effective written and oral communication skills


This position involves working in multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects both nationally and overseas; international travel may form a significant part of the role.
